Lord of the Flies

Organisation

Summary

We are looking to recruit young men between the ages of 10 - 25 between November and January 2014 to take part in a national project delivered by The Lowry and Re:Bourne, the educational arm of Matthew Bourne's New Adventures. Re:Bourne has developed a unique production of Lord of The Flies that first premiered in Glasgow in 2010. Lord of the Flies is now to be re-staged across 13 venues in the UK. The North West will be the first region to re-stage the production at The Lowry in April 2014.

Additional Information

Specialism

For the purpose of this project we are looking to work specifically with young men between the ages of 10-25. Dance experience is not necessary, all you need to have is an interest in performing, enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new.

Background Information

Lord of The Flies first premiered in Glasgow in 2010. After working with a number of boys, many of which had never danced before, they produced a live show which gave the boys the opportunity to perform alongside professional dancers in the company. The project was a huge success and the legacy it left has been truly inspiring. Many of the boys still dance on a regular basis and one boy was so encouraged by the programme that he worked to gain a place at a conservatoire in London.
